In a phone's Bluetooth scan, the controller may go by ELK-BLEDOM rather than WUYXPG. That is the light's controller, not a speaker. WUYXPG says to skip Bluetooth settings entirely: open duoCo StripX with Bluetooth switched on, and the strip shows up on its own within 5–10 seconds. The fixes for a controller the app cannot see help when it does not.

The kit arrives connected, and WUYXPG says so plainly: it can be used straight from the box with no disassembly. That saves the fiddliest step. The strips are directional, though, so if you unplug anything to thread it through a gap, each piece has to go back the right way round.
Hiding cables is what makes shelf lighting look planned. Run the leads down the back corner of a bookcase or along the rear edge of a cabinet where the eye does not go. The line cards hold them flat, and a lead that sits tight to wood disappears in the shadow.
For shelves, mount each strip just behind the front lip of the shelf above, facing down. The light lands on the objects rather than in your eyes. Inside glass cabinets, the top of each compartment works the same way.
Remote and app both work through cabinet doors and from across the room, so the controller can sit hidden behind the unit. Keep it away from sinks and kettles; none of the parts carry a water rating.

Adjustable mic sensitivity matters on shelves. A bookcase beside a speaker picks up every beat at a low setting; a cabinet across the room needs it higher. Turn it down if the strips twitch at conversation, up if they sit still through the chorus.
The remote and the app share control rather than fight over it. Set a colour on the phone, change it from the remote later, and the strips simply follow whichever was pressed last. That suits a household where one person likes tapping presets and another just wants a button by the sofa.
If the app will not connect, WUYXPG's own advice is to switch the light off and on again, or restart the phone, then open the app and wait. Six 12-inch pieces add up to 72 inches of light, about 6ft. That is small next to a room strip, and that is the point: this kit lights objects and sections, not whole walls. The comparison that matters is with other short, modular kits and with TV backlights.
