Every ELK-BLEDOM light answers to one phone app, and the name printed on its box tells you which. Lotus Lantern, duoCo Strip, duoCo StripX, Magic Lantern and Lotus Lamp X all mix colours, pulse to the music and switch the glow on a schedule.

ELK-BLEDOM is the Bluetooth name of the small controller that runs these lights, and it answers to more than one app. Makers print the right one on the box, the manual and often the control box itself, usually as a QR code. Scan it, install what opens, and the strip, rope or lamp is ready to glow.
Each brand settles on one app for each light, so a single home can end up with two or three of them installed. Here is how they split across the family:

Two pairs of names trip people up. duoCo Strip and duoCo StripX are separate downloads, and the X version is the one built for IC strips that show several colours along one run. Lotus Lantern and Lotus Lamp X are separate too.

Features as each maker describes its own light and app; the exact menu varies with the controller inside.
Every app in the family turns the lights into a visualiser, but there are two ways for them to hear the song. One listens to the room; the other reads the track straight from your phone. Pick the one that matches where tonight's music is coming from.
Mic mode is the party favourite because nobody has to hand over their phone. Keep the control box out in the open, not buried in a drawer or behind a thick cabinet door, so the mic hears the bass clearly.
Several controllers, the ZOKON cloud and the WUYXPG pre-cut kit among them, let you turn the mic sensitivity up or down. Turn it down for loud rooms so the lights pulse with the beat instead of flickering at every voice. ZOKON even suggests playing thunder sounds to bring out a wilder lightning show in its cloud.
For a car, remember that the controller's mic hears the cabin, engine included. Music mode from the phone gives a cleaner rhythm on a noisy drive, and a Xprite underglow set handles both.

Past the music modes sits a colour wheel of 16 million shades plus a menu of moving effects. How many effects you get, and whether colours can travel along the strip, depends on the controller the app is talking to.
The biggest difference is RGB against RGB+IC. A plain RGB strip shows one colour along its whole length at a time, as SILFU says of its 50ft neon rope. An IC strip gives each segment its own chip, so rainbows run, chase and bounce along the line.
For a calm film, pick a single warm colour and lower the brightness until the wall behind the screen glows softly. The ALED LIGHT kit adds a pure white setting for plain illumination, handy when the party is over and you want to find the remote.
Chasing rainbows along the ceiling need an IC set such as the BUNACET COB strip.
DTQJ's firework lights take daily, weekly or one-time schedules in duoCo StripX, or a countdown that turns them off after the party. The built-in mic makes the bursts jump with the music between those times.
See the glowTimers turn a party light into everyday ambience. Most of the family can switch themselves on and off at set times, and some pick the colour they wake up in. Once a schedule is saved, the room lights up without anyone opening the app.
DTQJ's smart firework lights offer all three repeat options in duoCo StripX, plus a countdown that dims the show once guests leave. DTQJ's 21ft TV backlight stores a preferred colour with each timer, so evenings can start in amber and late nights end in deep blue.
Lotus Lantern neon from AILBTON, FBZ and LETIANPAI handles timers too. AILBTON and FBZ suggest setting the neon to come on with your morning alarm, a gentle sunrise for a dark bedroom.
Remotes rarely match the app here. FanGera's firework light can set an off-timer from its 40-key remote, but only the app sets a switch-on time. Its app also dims from 0 to 100 percent, while the remote stops at 30.
Nearly every light here ships with a remote or a three-button control box as well as the app. Both work together: the remote for quick changes from the sofa, the app for detailed colours, timers and music modes.

One app can run more than one set. SAMGCHI's car kit lets Magic Lantern control one or several sets of interior lights. Cedarine's strips join up to 10 runs into 530ft that play the same chase in step.
These apps stay inside their own family. Sunity notes that its ELK-BLEDOM-style controller does not work with Govee or Philips Hue strips. If Sunity's iPhone app is hard to find, its maker names it LotusLanternX on the iOS App Store and Lotus Lantern on Google Play.
